Our team
As one of the largest blood and marrow transplant programs in the Rocky Mountain region, Colorado Blood Cancer Institute is committed to the advancement of care practices, education and research for blood and marrow disorders.
We foster a collaborative environment where dedicated blood cancer specialists can provide the highest quality treatments, as well as access to helpful support resources. This team includes psychologists, social workers, dietitians, advanced practice providers, medical assistants, oncology-certified registered nurses, as well as both financial and transplant nurse coordinators. Above all, we are here to provide unwavering support throughout your transplant journey.
Blood cancer and stem cell transplant expertise
Our center is located in Denver, but people come from all over the country seeking our expertise. Since 1991, we have continued to steadily grow our blood cancer program's volume, performing thousands of transplants since our inception. Today, we complete hundreds of transplants each year.
In addition to stem cell transplants, we offer a full range of cellular therapies, including:
- CAR T-cell therapy
- Donor lymphocyte infusion (DLI)
- Photopheresis for chronic graft-versus-host disease (GvHD)
Our center is a National Marrow Donor Program (NMDP)-recognized facility for apheresis, collection and transplant of stem cells. We are also a Foundation for the Accreditation of Cellular Therapy (FACT)-accredited program, performing allogenic and autologous transplants, as well as human leukocyte antigen (HLA) matching.
We are motivated by a desire to help more people get transplants, and this passion drives our research efforts. Through the use of nonmyeloablative, or reduced intensity, allogeneic transplants, as well as umbilical cord blood transplants, we are able to serve people in more age and ethnic groups.
Additionally, we have a long-term follow up program to manage potential complications of GvHD. After a transplant, we remain an available resource, even after you have returned to the care of your referring doctor.
Awards and recognitions
In addition to operating 10 outreach sites serving communities across a seven-state region, we are also home to one of the largest bone marrow transplant programs within the Sarah Cannon Transplant and Cellular Therapy Network (SCTCTN). Our association with Sarah Cannon allows us to provide you with a nationally recognized research platform, including Phase I, II and III clinical research trials.
Our hospital partner, HCA HealthONE Presbyterian St. Luke’s, was recognized as a U.S. News & World Report 2025 High Performing Hospital for the treatment of leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma. The designation recognizes our ongoing commitment to continually improving blood cancer care. Hospitals that earn this ranking perform significantly better than the national average across multiple data categories, including overall patient outcomes.
